Maple Branch Closing, Effective July 1

Published: 04/22/2021

Parkside members expect exceptional service from their credit union and we strive to deliver on that expectation through solutions that fit our members’ evolving needs.

A host of challenging circumstances, including building deterioration and significantly reduced transaction volume, has led us to the difficult decision to close our Maple St. branch (Dearborn), effective July 1, 2021. Rest assured, the Maple St. employees that you have come to know and trust will continue to serve members at our other locations.

For over 75 years the Maple St. location has been a landmark in the community. Through a series of mergers, what began as Dearborn Municipal Credit Union evolved into Village Community Credit Union, and ultimately became Parkside Credit Union in 2016. We honor the history of the credit union and appreciate the many individuals and families who have remained loyal members through the years.

Background

Over the years, the condition of the Maple St. branch building has continued to deteriorate. While aesthetic renovations have been completed to improve the facility, the property is too small to accommodate a drive thru and upgraded parking facilities, which are essential to meet the needs of our members in a safe and convenient way.

The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic led many members to explore our electronic channels, which has resulted in a significantly reduced transaction volume in all of our branch locations. To continue to meet our goal of providing innovative products and excellent service to all members, we must allocate our resources to key areas to ensure that our organization remains sustainable in the future.

Looking Ahead

Closing a branch is never an easy decision, but as this chapter comes to an end, we want to provide information on the variety of ways you can access the services you need, both in person as well as electronically.

Branch Locations and Shared Branches

Members currently using the Maple St. branch may continue to bank at Parkside’s other Dearborn branch, which is located at 9500 Dix Ave. – approximately three miles from the Maple St. location. We also have branch locations in Westland and Livonia.

A drive-up Interactive Teller Machine (ITM) has been installed at our Dix branch. An ITM provides the convenience of an ATM, but with the added benefit of offering personal interaction with a Virtual Service Representative (VSR) via a video monitor. VSRs are able to process most of the transactions that are typically available at a drive thru. This functionality will be available in the coming months and will feature extended service hours.

Additionally, Parkside is a member of the Xtend Shared Branch Network as well as the CO-OP ATM Network. Xtend Shared Branch and CO-OP ATM locations can be found using the following:
